Occupy Erie celebrated May Day in solidarity with workers and Occupy groups around the country on May 1. Marchers paraded right through Erie’s City Hall, the City of Erie Police Station and Congressman Mike Kelly’s Erie office and made some noise!

Food, music, and poetry followed at the Gazebo in Perry Square. As the weather warms, watch out for more frequent public demonstrations, gatherings, and creative protests by Occupy Erie. See YOU there!

The General Assembly is to meet at 1:00 pm in Perry’s Square at the Gazebo.

A ceremony recognizing those who have lost their lives at work starts at 2:00 pm in the Erie City Council meeting room, with a wreath laying ceremony held at the Labor Memorial between city hall and the Gazebo.

Working Groups are meeting after the General Assembly at 1505 State St.

The IT Working Group Meeting will be after the Labor Memorial Service, which I am attending. I like taking pictures in the Council Chambers and in Perry’s Square both. I HEARTILY encourage those at the GA to also honor those of the 99% whot died because the 1% had more important things to worry about than the safety of those with equity earned with blood, body parts, and sweat. Please show your support by being there also. And I love taking pictures in the Council Chambers of people wearing the 99% OccupyErie.net buttons.

The battle of those who don’t have much left against those that want it all seems to be coming, to some, as a surprise.  The super wealthy, super elites have manipulated the masses with thought control methods I first was exposed to in “1984,” and have done it well enough to to turn good people against each other: by color, religion, birth nation, geography, sexual orientation, age, or any other wedge they can drive and exploit. The one they are using this time around is the perceived abuse of the power of organized Labor and the meme that the union workers are getting more than they deserve.
